I havn't found suitable fluid yet. an I going to let air into the system when I clean the filter?

    Cheers

Mine was doing the rocking thing too, I would come out of a corner and when I'd straighten up it would rock back & forward, quite violently sometimes. I'll definitly be watching this closely.
Being a pneumatic system I don't believe there is anywhere u can disconnect the system without letting air in but I'm sure as hell glad to be corrected
    Good luck mattg

Well it's hydraulic,so disconnecting it anywhere south of the reservoir will let air in, but the res to pump hose can be replaced and refilled and air will rise back into the reservoir.

I see this in Synthetic but have also read elsewhere that you can use a Mineral Dex 3. Why not just use a normal Power steering fluid?

    Any thoughts?

Anyone else had the rocking thing?

    Cheers

I was told power steering fluid is ok for a top up. So, provided your not putting in more than 10% of the systems total capacity it should be ok.

Mmmm would have concerns with 'It Should be Okay' ..... Especially if you are looking at 10% limits....

For the sake of $20 / $30 just get the proper stuff from landrover.....

If it has worked all these years why suddenly get cheap stuff with the potential to cost a minimum of 110% of the landy stuff to fix when it fails on you.... Especially considering what the system actually does or more importantly what it is doing when it is running..... ie trying to stabilize/direct a top heavy speeding brick round a corner!!!!....

The RAVE CD has a technical section all about ACE and how it works and is serviced.

The Penrite PAS Fluid (bluish bottle) is the stuff I use and was primarily designed for the Land Rover ACE systems. Costs around $21 for a 1L bottle at Auto Barn/Supercheap etc.

The good thing about Transmax Z is you can use it in the ZF, PS and ACE.
It was around $70 for 4 litres though,,

I did.... they were just shut on sunday when I was trying to get it done.

$47 for 5 Ltr in my container. from John Patricks here in Port.

not sure if this is by the book but I emptied the res removed the filter started the car and drained it out of the filter whole for 5 seconds. stopped. filed the res. did it again and again. Come out nice and clean. cleaned the filter put it back in and topped up the res again. ran the car for 5 minutes emptied the res to refill twice. very clean and green and will refresh the res again today after 300km trip.

no lights on so looks good.

I have noticed side ways twisting motion on the mounting point of the ram front and back. is there a replaceable bush on the ram mount?

    cheers
