    safari snorkel tips

    Hi,

    Just started the install tonight, cut out the 70mm holes and linked them up, pushed the snorkel onto the guard and have noticed that the tubular piece that should go onto tne inner guard doesnt line up too well, its slighty out, has anyone exp this before?? Do you have to make the stud holes even broader? They are already 16mm as suggested in the destruction papers!

    Without having a look at your job, it is a hard ask, and my suggestions are only the obvious, but it sounds like you are going to have to elongate one or more of your holes. I found the template to be perfect when I fitted my one so you may like to get out your template and check again. I guess you have already tried that and angling the snorkel in etc.

    Hi John

    No worries mate, she fits alright with a tiny bit of angling the snorkel to make it line up with the holes. Just a bit towey after seeing the inner guard line up with the snout of the snorkel, all good now though.

    Just off the topic a bit though has anyone seen the amount of grass and dirt that can get caught near the intake pipe and the airbox???? Surely cant be good for airflow restriction reasons!!

    My tip is that seeing I am as useless as tits on a bull when it comes to these kind of things is I am paying someone to do mine on Wednesday

    If you're not doing it yourself, make sure the guy uses lots of Sikaflex and properly seals the whole system back to airbox. You don't want to have to pull it apart to reseal, I imagine it's not a pleasant job.

    Ah its pretty straight forward, just a bit of patience and forget about the estimated 2hr time to install as noted with the destruction papers. At least if you do it yourself you know it cant leak!
    Check the hose between the airbox and inner guard, mine was full of grass and red dirt, finally found my stuttering woes have gone,and she drives great, especially when air gets into the box.
