dba & Bendix Titanium = issues

    Gday all,

A few months ago I fitted dba 4000 series slotted rotors with Bendix 4X4 pads (with the "Titanium stripe) after an exhaustive trawl through here reading all the advice.

I have been having performance issues with them, especially when cold - just no stopping even when standing on the pedal. It isn't so bad once after a couple of minutes. I have bled the brakes, checked vacuum pressure and just about eerything else I can think of and do myself.

A mate fitted the same combination to his GQ but had even worse problemsthan I have had. Today he took his GQ to a brak specialist and they have told him that the Titanium strips stuff shouldn't be used with sotted rotors as i leads to glazing - they are currently machining his rotors and replacing the discs.

I am truly surprised by this as I have found thousands of posts on here and a hundred other car forums for everything from 4WDs to street performance and they all reccomend the dba slotted and Bendix Titanium combo.

Has anyone else experienced this or anything remotely like this???????

Im yet too hear a good story about the bendix titanium in either the 4wd or performance car world. they are notorious for poor cold braking and excessive rotor. I personally know of two BA Falcons that fitted 4000's and Bendix titaniums and both needed rotors replaced at first pad change due too excessive and uneven wear.

I'd suggest bining the bendix pads, get the rotor machine and fitting a set of QFM pads

aussie made and in my experience very very good in terms of rotor wear, braking performance and dust generation

Get some EBC green stuff pads.. On my 5th or 6th set on varying vehicles..

Initial 200km squeek then excellent performance and working life...

Looked at the Bendix BUT again heard concerns so stuck with what I had had such a good experience with.

Best of luck getting a package that works for you.

    You see Ben,
this way the shop gets to charge $50 to machine the "rotors" then chuck em in the spares pile, then invoice the poor bloke for a new set of "discs". Most punters would not even notice!

    James,
have you ever had issues with Resin leakage and hot spots with EBC's? I used too run them on all my cars but the last set i fitted too both my rangie and my go fasty road car and both suffered resin leakage and associated hotspots and shudder. I know of several other users that have had the same issues.

Not a bedding in issue as i have use 3 or 4 set on both cars with no other dramas

My experiences with QFM have been very positive and they are just under 1/2the price of EBC's

    Luke,

No I have never experienced those problems you have encountered..
I did hear a rumble on either the Nissan or Suzi forums some time ago that someone else had had an issue with a set of EBC's... Think it was squeeling noises though..

I have always run mine with Cross drilled and slotted rotors and stuck with that combo... The vehicles were wildly varying... RR / Volvo T5 / Peugeot 306 GTI-6 / Peugeot 205 GTI/ Disco 2 and a Hybrid V8 series 2A...

Again had people cluck at the cross drilled and slotted rotors because of warping and stress fractures.... BUT all these vehicles were put through there paces as such.... More driven like it was rented as opposed to the driven like it was stolen manner used by some!!! AND again I had no issues with the warping / cracks... Also I had fabulous life span out of them...

The only shudder was usually from the dog, who thought we had moved to the continent as he seemed to spend most of his time on the wrong side of the road!...

RDA slotted and blind drilled -- Bendix Tit strip-- needs more push (harder stuff) but effective-- little dust and little wear, no fade (yet).
