D2 crickets under the car .....

so , driving along today, and i hear the sound of a single cricket chirping away under my D2. front propshaft methinks immediately. it has done 220k and never been replaced after all. drives home carefully. climb under, whip the shaft out in about 5 mins. marked the shaft so i can put it all together the same way its about to be taken apart.
then missus wants me to duck down the shops for some groceries, jump in, difflock on and off i drive to the shops only to find i still have a cricket chirping even with no front propshaft. it all comes crashing down in my head. gets out of car, wlaks around to left front tyre and looks in tread to find a large piece of gravel trapped in the tread. drives back home and puts shaft back in for another day.

i blame all you guys on here for making me paranoid about the front shaft exploding

    :P

    Brilliant !

Excellent rehearsal, you'll need a bit of TLC on the prop soon, why not take the opportunity to do some preventative maintenance.

I tried and failed to remove mine in the driveway,,
took it to a truck driveline specialist and he commented on how tight the bolts were to remove with an 18" breaker bar,,

I got the cricket chirping under mine a while back - not long AFTER I had all the uni joints replaced with greasable ones at Hardie Spicers in Kal.

Turned out that a little bit of grease pumped into the joints in the rear shaft solved the problem.

And I can fit under mine on a w'shop trolley on the floor in the shed without jacking it up.
    Cheers .........
