Your torque converter is hydraulicaly (?) connected to the gearbox ie is filled by the oil pumped from the trans sump. It is not filled separately. Undo the torque converter from the engine. Make sure the torque converter is fully replaced in the bell housing (rotate by hand until it is deeper in the bell housing than the flywheel side mounting face at the back of the engine) then when the engine is back in you will need to top up the trans after running it through the gears for a short time.

Resleeve ... and work goes on ...

following an initial +20 thou' bore, marks on the top of 3 sleeves (at about 2 o'clock facing forward I think from memory) could be seen extending about 7mm down from the top, from 7 to 10mm wide and about 40 thou' deep. After some discussion it appears the plastic head to block dowels have allowed the head to move sufficiently and slowly enough to allow the valves to pound these little dimples in the bore without self destructing. Very fascinating - I'd be interested to hear of other similar ... BRgds.
