Pretty sure you get further on just ULP.

Just travelled from Port Macquarie to Brisbane which included a few laps around Byron Bay, Port Macquarie and then Brisbane. Travelled roughly 641 km for 86 litres. (roughly about 90 kms was city travel of the 641)

(A/C on all the time and travelling at 118km/hr or 108 except at Byron where you travel at 60km/hr stop start in a 100 zone. 4 seats occupied and packed with luggage).

    Regards

    Hi All,
Just did a round trip to Exmouth (the long way because of the Carnarvon floods) 4,546KM (148km on gravel) and returned 14.95LT per 100KM PULP (95 or 98 only), on cruise @ 113kmh except for the towns, the gravel road & several under water floodway crossings. Climate Control on 21deg, external temp @ 39 to 42C for whole trip, Engel on freeze going up & fridge coming back with enough gear for three (including wife & one daughter) to stay 8 days over Xmas (in other words chockers). Running 265/75R-16's so the RPM @ 113 (100 on speedo using tyre size difference calculator) was around 2250 (not enough calibrations on the tacho to be really accurate). Standard 2004 D2a 4 Litre V8 Auto with slightly better breathing & sounding Lukey centre muffler the only mod. Around town and much shorter trips average is 17.44 litres/100KM. Very pleased with the whole trip and it didn't miss a beat.
    Cheers,
    Peter.

Some good figures there, I recently traveled to Nowa Nowa(just past lakes entrance) from Geelong. Got there easily in my td5 and couldn't believe how good she was on diesel. Did about 550kms in half a tank. Very impressed with the drive.

i wish i was getting figures like that . last check it was 12.5 per 100 taking into account the 245 75 tires and the 6 % difference in the speedo gps readings. i am hoping that it will get bettter as the rings and big end bearings bed in. as well i have a roof rack with a spare wheel up top and the temps here have been in the high 30's low 40's. still beats the 18 per hundred i was getting before replacing the bearings etc

The kids are back from their X-mas road trip.
The results: V8 with 200ltre of LR tanks:

    Total distance travelled 4700k
Karratha to Margret river via the inland route, and home via all the stops along the north west coastal. ( best 3 week holiday the missus and I have had in 21 years
Average fuel use: 16.5l/100 = 16.5 mpg (interesting numbers hey?)
    Best was a 14.1l/100 (damnm near 20mpg)
    and worst: 20.3l/100 or 13mpg.
The longest distances gave best returns anyrthing over 500k was returning up araound 17+mpg or low 16s l/100.

Full load with 4 on board and boot loaded. with the Waeco and stuff.
All in all I thought pretty reasonable, and the only "drama" reported..battery problems which saw us replace the battery today, the old one was only giving up 10 volts on the meter...one dropped cell...the alternator was giving off 13.8.

    Pretty happy really.

i decided to try out the 2 stroke in the fuel mix on my last trip adding 200-1 mix of castrol t to my fuel
last time i went to melbourne from hervey bay i was getting about 920 km from 88-90 litres with the 2 stroke oil i was getting 950 km to 80 litres sitting on 100-110kph most of the time the one tank i didnt put it in i went back to 900km from 88 litres so as far as im concered over a 6 fill trip going from hervey bay to gisborne then melbourne then ballarat, melbourne ,lakes entrance , merimbula , hervey bay via goondawindi then across to lismore due to the floods then home i will definatly keep using it on trips . with each tank i went through a major city like brisbane ,sydney ,melbourne ,canberra
