Confidence.
Hi Guys
After owning my D2 for around 18 months now and reading some horror stories on this forum, I can now say that I have full confidence in my Disco.
We've just returned from a 2500km trip with a full car towing a 1.5t camper van. No issues at all, she ran like clockwork! Great fuel economy, averaged around 13.5 kms/ltr for the entire trip.
The only issues I had was when going down the Clyde mountain on the south coast, I failed to increase the setting on the brake controller for the trailer and over-heated my brakes ... the was smoke pouring out of 'em! A quick stop to cool them down and all was good.
The only other small issue is that one of the CoilRite air bags I installed has sprung a leak somewhere.
Having said all that ... one of Tombie's chips would've very helpful.
Just thought I'd share a good news story.
Cheers
Craig

There are both ends of the scale portrayed on this forum, as you have no doubt seen, glad you're at the good end
I have the same spectrum displayed in my client base, too.
for some,
for others.

Gday Craig,
Good to here of you happy motoring with the D2..
I had our D2 for 8yrs and only 1 time it let us down and that was in town when the idler pulley siezed..
That car took us to all parts of the country including some very remote areas and around the country twice.
I had complete confidence in it, and would get another 1 without hesitation..
You need to know their weakness and just keep maintainence up regularly and am sure you will be happy for alot longer.
Having read plenty of forums like this 1, the same thing happens on them, you get the GOOD, BAD & UGLY stories....same with types of engines, cars boats whatever.
I met a couple on the Canning and they never even knew how to change the belt on their car, but they had complete confidence in it that nothing would go wrong...Yet some people get worried driving 200kms..
Enjoy the D2 they have there faults but keep onto it and they are a great 4x4..
Cheers Ean
