    Continental Conti4x4Contact 255/55/18

    Hi all

I am about to buy a set of these
Continental Tyres Australia & New Zealand*-Conti4x4Contact

Anyone had any experience with them. they are a 109H load and speed rating.

I have a set of Wrangler Muddies on the way for my set of 16s so these will be just used on the Hwy.

I believe they are very quite but how many kms can we get out of them?

    cheers

    Matt

I've had mine for a couple of years now and well happy with them. Originally put them on the RRC but took them off and put them on the D2 as the rangie is not my daily at the moment.
I've done probably close to 40k on them now and they still have a good 10mm tread on them.

Do a search on them and you will find other posts about them.

    Cheers

Have heard nothing but good reports on them. Have also heard they wear quicker than the Pirelli and they are better than the Pirelli in the wet (when comparing the conti there is NOTHING else to compare them to - certainly not goodyear etc).

Having said all that I went with the Pirelli Scorpion Zero which are amazingly quiet and I use on the freeway most of the time.

But you will not go wrong with the Contis. But for freeway driving I would go these

Mind you they cost me quite a bit more than $275 a corner - more like $450 a corner. Ouch!

I liked them as well but they are $480 not $275.

If I get 40,000 out of them I will be happy.

    Hi DanW

What is your load and speed rating?

The ones i am looking at are 109H.

Mine might end up on the sand as well, how do they handle it?

Hope you are staying dry mate.

    cheers

Hi Matt, mine are 112V (255/60 R18). Probably a bit of overkill, but i had read somewhere that a higher load and speed rating helps when driving at low pressure and speed (such as on hard sand).

They handle well in the sand - I didn't notice any difference, better or worse, between those and the OEM Wranglers. I was happy with the Wranglers apart from the wear rate so switched to the Conti's to see how they'd go - and so far they seem better, and definitely started their life with a deeper tread groove than the wranglers.

I couldn't notice any change in road noise.

Given they were the same price (well the Wranglers were costing me $425) i didn't have much to lose.

Thankfully I have managed to stay dry!

I originally got mine from Nedlands Tyre Service here in Perth who is a Conti Distributor and paid $245 each for 245/70 R16 2 years ago, a fair cry from $395 for same size BFG AT's...

    Cheers
