I need to replace the rubbers on one so I thought I might as well try the Rover one.

When I was looking around I found a rover Key that had the same board number as mine.

Land Rover 75 Mini MG 2 Button Remote Key Fob 73370847C (eBay item 390257852283 end time 29-Jan-11 02:56:36 AEDST) : Vehicle Parts Accessories

Would be happy to use a rover key if the Disco could read the radio signal and recognise the key.

just had a few replies from ebay and it appears that some of the rover keys run at 433 Mhz, the same as some of the later model discos.

Was going to buy some keys and get them sent to a UK address and then get the bulk lot sent over. Hook up with someone with a nanocom and see what happens.

Just didn't want to waste the money if someone has already done this exercise.

I swapped my key's internals to a new Rover 75 key case. It worked like a treat, but later (it lasted twice as my original LR key) the buttons began to crack again.
I found this, it's based in Australia and ordered the button set for D2, it's fitted in less than 5 minutes, you don't have to worry switching cases, boards an so on and the rubber is much better quality.

One year on and still like new.

    There's the link
    Polmex

scroll down to land rover D2 buttons.

    Best regards
    Robert

Most of the Rover 75 / Mini keys are the same, and same frequency, but be careful.
    Speaking from experience here.

The ones with the flat thicker blade can't be cut to a D2 key, like the first ebay link in this thread.
Some look the same, but don't have a removable key blade.
Some say they are genuine, but are cheap copies.

If buying off ebay - ask if they have the removable key blade.
