    Passenger rear door wont open

Gday all, after paying a hefty bill only a couple of weeks ago at a dealership to have central locking issues resolved (along with new window regulators fitted at $320.00 apiece, but I'll get to that....) my rear passenger door will not open all of a sudden. Neither the inside handle or the outside handle will open the door - and it wont even unlock with the central locking!!! Can anyone help me with ideas for opening the door, i dont think the door card can be removed with the door closed... i took it to another dealership yesterday as i have moved interstate and they quoted me over $500.00 to replace the door latch - sounds over the top to me when i can locate a second hand unit for $75 locally!!! Just need to get the bloody door open first though.....
Now getting to the window regulators, as i mentioned i had both front regulators replaced recently - even though i only asked the dealer to fix one faulty unit -GRRRR....... anyway i put the drivers window down yesterday only to find it wouldnt go back up!!! Took the car to another dealer as mentioned above only to be told the regulator is not the issue its now the window motor - which they can replace for the small sum of $700.00!!!!! What is going on with these ridiculous prices - a window motor on ebay (2nd hand) is only $65 , are they about right or am i being taken for a ride?? Looks like i'm going to have to break out the tools myself.....

P.S. any help opening the door would be greatly appreciated.

So does the door that isn't opening actually "unlocked" i.e. the button is in the up position?

Stay away from the dealers mate...they will rob you blind as they smile and say "have a nice day." And your car is only worked on by apprentices. Find someone local who can fix d2's...

Gday MickS, no the door thats not opening is not unlocking anymore, with my hand on the door whilst pushing the unlock button i can feel the actuator working but the lock knob doesnt move. I dont know if it helps but it was the outside handle that stopped working first - at this stage it was still locking / unlocking - about a day later the inside handle stopped working along with the locking knob.

Have you tried pressing unlock on the key fob 3 or 4 times. My rear right won't unlock until I have done that...this is another known fault in the d2's.

Sorry to say you were ripped off with the window regulator, I just replaced my drivers side front. Land Rover quoted me $210.00 plus GST, I sourced a brand new one from Jag Spares & British 4wd in Tassie for $83.00 & $16.00 air freight. Ordered on Mon morning, arrived Tuesday morning, 20 min job to fit.

If you havent already got one get the Rave CD and have a go at fixing it yourself. I hate to think what LR would have charged me to supply and fit.

I had a simular experiance when I changed the rubber joint on the rear of the tail shaft, LR were double the price for the parts.??

PS Looking at the diagrams on the Rave CD there is a cable that operates the latch from the inside and a rod that operates the latch from the outside handle, The locking mechanism also uses a rod to unlock the door. Maybe something has just come loose and the motor is trying to work but not having the desired effect.

There must be a way to get to the lock with the door shut?? I know a few RACV blokes that are pretty good at getting modern vehicles open when the keys are locked in??

    Good luck!

Sounds to me like one of the link rods has been installed backwards, and is getting trapped. Happened to me when replacing a door, took a couple of hours to strip the door trim off and get into the locking mechanism from the inside to unlock it, then reinstall the locking mechanism in the door with the link rod CORRECT.

So you were able to remove the door trim from the inside with the door shut?? I will have a crack at it tomorrow i think - perhaps i was misinformed but i was led to believe it couldnt be done (without damaging anything) with the door shut. Dont believe everything you hear eh.....
Has anyone got a link for downloading the RAVE CD - i used to have it on my old PC until it died.
