Starter Battery TD5

Hi All,
Can anyone recommend a starter battery for a 99 TD5. Mine's on the way out & dont want to be caught out & have to buy one on the spot. Any recommendations on brand, price guide would be helpful. Someone mentioned a price around the $200+ mark, is this correct?

Delkor 31-900 is a direct replacement, I have seen 6 to 7 years life from this brand often. IMO they are equal to the Delphi original one.

Easily $200+ for one of these, IIRC RRP is closer to $270, but can get for less if you shop around I guess.

I have a CAT starting/deep cycle 175-4370. See Caterpillar Batteries for Demanding Environments

They're around $173 + GST from William Adams in Clayton.

My votes for the CAT as well... Excellent value and great battery.

I have one of those as well - although I don't think they sell them for $173 anymore!

Yeah, you were right Franz, they are $144+ now!!

I went to buy the CAT at William Adams but they have the screw type terminals & I couldnt have been bothered chasing around adaptors or changing my terminals over. They then recommended the 9X-3404 but this was about the $200 mark. So I went with plan B, the Delcor 31-900 & it turns out the place where I bought the battery (R & J Batteries in Hallam) supplies our work with batteries so I ended up getting it for trade price

for a fraction cheaper than the CAT!!

Good to hear. Maybe I should have mentioned that the Cat screw on terminal pack is less than $5 for the two terminal caps.
