    Windscreen washer jets not working

    Hey all.

So recently my windscreen washer jets stopped working. The tank is full of water, in case you were wondering!

Just looking for some advice as to what the possible causes of this could be, and what I could do to try and fix it.

Please bear in mind that im a total novice when it comes to cars. The most complicated thing I have ever done is install driving lights

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Damo

First is to check that all the hoses are connected properly, I had one come off my disco.
2ndly if all the hoses are connected properly I would take the hoses off at the windscreen washer pump and get some one to operate the windscreen wash, if H20 comes out you mostlikely have a bloked hose / jet, if no H20 and you can not hear the pump, mostlikely you have a dead pump.
3rd possibility is a blocked inlet hose.
    I hope this helps.

Sorry, but I do not have access to my vehicle at the moment, but I am going to presume that it is located on the bottom of the windscreen washer bottle, passenger side. You may also have to take the plastic splash gaurd located in the wheel well off to access it.

If the pump works it could be that the non return valve near the washer jets is blocked. Mine gets blocked with a green sludge...could be a result of the Bars Bugs...not sure.

I just keep undoing the hose joins until water starts coming out...then you have found the blockage!

If the pump doesn't work..well..I'm sure others will offer advice

Just went and had a look. The one way valves were completely blocked with a thick black sludge.

Had to spend 10 mins forcing it out with a syringe.

But all is good now, works a treat.

    Cheers for the help fellas

if the water you use for the washer has a high mineral content the jets tend to block. i just clean them out with a needle until i get enough softer water through them.

I had a similar problem on my Defender. Spent ages pulling dash apart to get at the washer jet and found it blocked with a bit of sludge. All good for a few weeks and it blocked again. This time I used an oxy cleaning tip and air nozzle and blew it back down the line. 5 minute fix. Cursing the wasted day first time. Aaah Land Rovers! You jut got to outsmart them.

Ah, cheers for the tip. Might fill it up with filtered water, though im not 100% sure if it removes calcium etc from the water..?

i use sonax clearview in all my cars for this very reason...

even unblocks some valves and jets.

5 litres of concentrate costs about $90 and makes about 500 litres of washer fluid :P

is an absolute must have with a vw and their fan jets on their washers.
