Hi all,
The guys who did the last 2 services on our recently purchased D2 (English Auto Part & Servicing in Tuggerah NSW) have told me they used Repsol FCT10 coolant when they serviced it last. It's a green one. That's all I know. Can't seem to find any definite info on it online. They buy in bulk drums aparently.
Anyone know this stuff? I don't want to blend coolants so I wanted to find where I could buy it, or replace it next service with something else good for the TD5.
Cheers
Wil

Thanks Pedro,
I found that page, but it doesn't seem to match what I can see in the expansion tank / bleed bung. Mine's definitley luminescent green. Repsol's OAT ones are red, and the other on the first page look kinda blue..
Well, it's not leaking (*touch wood*) so hopefully I won't have to do much till next service anyway.
Just wanted to find out what I can safely top up with in the event of coolant loss.

Are you sure that's the right product code? The only green coolants that I know of from Repsol are for bikes e.t.c.
I did find this info though... Matches the product code of FCT10

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what was used...
Need to ask a question about coolant. Sorry for hijacking but seemed a good place to put it:
My mech is currently rebuilding my cooling system, and has asked where and what coolant he should be using (well, he actually asked what YOU guys recommend!).
I'm pretty confident it needs to be the red OAT stuff. Is the red stuff available from SuperCheap, Repco, etc suitable for the V8 D2?
If not, wheres the best place to get and what?
I did notice Sullys post above, and would be keen to hear others thoughts too.
While we're at it, what recommendation for fluids for a power steering "top up". Not really wanting to go down the route of a full flush if it can be helped.
Cheers in advance,
There's no need to use the OAT red stuff specifically. Without researching it too much, I believe it's more prone to springing leaks when changing from green to red, due to it being of a thinner consistancy, or something along those lines.
I'm unsure if you'll face the same issues in changing from red to green glycol based coolant. That said, you can get OAT coolant in a green colour too.
I'm running green glycol based coolant in mine (as are many others) and it performs just fine. Many LR specialists are moving away from the red OAT coolant if that gives you an indication.
The below thread might help you out a bit: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...t-coolant.html
Regarding the power steering fluid top up. Most fluids are much the same, so you should be relatively safe to top up with a good quality brand that you can pick up from an auto shop. There are claims that some fluids can react against each other, but I've never heard of that happening.

Hi Tombie, is that the OAT one?
I ask as I've just had a PM from LOVEMYRANGIE suggesting a CAT premix coolant for my particular motor (pending a double check on the handbook recommendation).
This IS for the V8 D2 application, right? (mines a yr 2000)
Cheers.
