What the...??? How does this even happen?
I was doing my weakly "Check the disco for leaks - or progression of existing leaks" check and noticed something weird...
The inspection plate on the bottom bell housing for the torque converter has completely disappeared, leaving a wide open hole into the bell housing and exposing the torque converter to the elements... Goodness knows when it fell off or why.
So it's been a bit of a mission trying to find one. LR need to order it and it will take 2 weeks to arrive.
Range-Rov in vermont seem to think they have some in stock and will be able to help out and the local wrecker in Geelong Road didn't have one on hand, but seems to think he can have one by morning.
What a strange thing to have fall off....

Give TRS a go, they'll post anywhere. I've had no problems with them.
Cheers,
Pete.

Mine is well & truly not going anywhere, assuming loctite on the bolts that hold it in place. I tried to remove it on mine a few months ago chasing a leak.
Just a thought

Yep. That thought had crossed my mind. Why they would remove that to do head work is beyond me.
That's why I spoke to Range-Rov. They were the last working on it and are as confused about it as me.

Many, many thanks to Jon for sending me a replacement cover plate. Legend.
So, a few things to take note of if you ever find yourself in this predicament.
1. You can order new ones with screws from Land Rover. $18 with a two week wait while it gets delivered from Cambridge.
2. Try TRS and promptly decline their services when they ask you to pay $40 plus postage.
3. Call Phil at Discovery Spares. He can supply replacements (depending on stock) for $15.
4. Rely on the goodwill and hospitality of the great members on this site!
