    Removing Door Catches

I have a problem with 2 of my door catches, Drivers and rear drivers side. The drivers door will only unlock with the key, then I have to press the button on the key to stop the alarm going off before I actually open the door.
Rear DS door will open from inside but will not open from the outside door handle until it has been opened from inside once. Afetr that it's fine.

Now I'm 100% sure that the problem is dust (I know the history of the vehicle and it has been used extensively in quarries and mines) so I figure I need to get them out of the doors and wash out the ****.

I've read the RAVE instructions and it seems simple... but it isn't

I've undone all the Torx bolts etc but it won't budge. RAVE says to 'remove the locking bar' (the rod to the button) but I'm stuffed if I can see ehat I'm doing in there and I don't want to break anyhthing) but it just doesn't 'feel' like this is all thats stopping me getting it out anyway.

    Any ideas?

Hi, I am not sure of the RAVE instructions, but I always remove the door top, which means undoing the window winder as well, as the door locks are jammed behind the window channel.

From memory here are the steps:

remove the door trim or door card and unplug the speaker - s
Make a cut in the dust sealing plastic, inside the door holding inserts so it can be taped back on
wind the window down to reveal the screws at the bottom of the glass, undo these and separate, then push back up the glass and jam in the upper position
there is a small wiring clip behind a bubble in the plastic protector, push this through to the inside, releasing the cable for the winder mech
Undo the winder mech plug, the one along the cable, not at the winder
remove the winder and leave in the bottom of the door
undo the screws for the door top 2 at the top, one in the top part way across to the center and 2 at the bottom of the channel
remove the door top. holding the sides together to make sure the glass doesn't fall out
next, remove the outside handle. one wire type lever has to be removed inside the door opening from the outside handle to the lock, also undo the screw holding the handle. The handle has to be pushed away from the edge of the door and it comes away easily
    unplug the lock
undo the 3 screws on the lock and remove the lock. On the rear door watch the child proof mech
unplug the cable to the inside opener

After you have done this a few times it takes about 10 minutes

    Try this link http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...ght=Door+Latch

Taking the window out is the best way but some people on this forum have removed the door latch without taking the window frame out but this is a bit of a hassle.

    Regards
    Andrew

P.S. By the way the window door frame has 5 screws not 4 as shown in the manual.
