    detroit locker

    hi all,
looking at this locker in the rear of manual d2 td5, couple of questions.

    1. why should i not fit one?, cannot afford arb and seen a deal on here too good to refuse.

    2. what will it cost to have fitted?, any recommendations on fitters?

    cheers

    Fit it.

If you take the centre out yourself and take it down to a diff place with the locker it will be a lot cheaper, even cheaper if you take the old one out fit the CW&P from your diff to the locker then take it down to the diff place and have them dial it in, Phil knows a good place to take it.

    Cheers Baz.

I fitted one and stronger axles to my 300Tdi disco 1 and it's great. Fine on road and great off it. It's a simple job But if you aren't comfortable with a torque wrench and a dial gauge - take it to a good mechanic or transmission place.

You might want to think about fitting stronger axles - you do get a little backlash around tight roundabouts - but not anything much. IF you do break an axle you will probably damage the diff. Don't be put off by this thought. A standard car with standard tyre size is unlikely to break an axle...
