    thanks

Thanks to both Panya and Feral..

Re; Panya's question - yes the doors lock and unlock when using the dash switch.. it's just the fob - both fobs actually....

that leads into Feral's remark... we don't think it is the Fob as the car is not unlocking on BOTH fobs....

That is why I am wondering if there is a problem with the BCU??? IF this is the case what can I do at home to investigate the BCU???

    Thanks guys..

    Steph

Does it do this anywhere? Or just at home?

    Smile Problem solved - YIPEEEE

    The problem is solved!!!

After further investigation I removed the pushed in key pads on both key fobs and found that the little silver rectangle piece on the circuit board with the black dot -that you push to unlock the car was not sitting straight (on both keys),

SO... I carefully straightened the little silver rectangle thing and now both keys are unlocking again. Now I just need to get new covers for the buttons, any suggestions??

Thanks to all those who took the time to post on this thread - your advice is much appreciated.

    Until next time...

    Steph

    Spare Fobs

    Steph

Also this one. Slightly cheaper. Ebay is they way to go for these.

UNCUT LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 REMOTE FOB KEY SHELL CASE - eBay (item 360349163184 end time Apr-02-11 17:44:25 PDT)

Also the mini fob does the job.

Most likely the button switch has broken off the circuit board in the fob.

Have a good search for 'key' or 'fob' and it should give you plenty of options.

It did enter my mind to respond with 'Well,.... two fobs are stuffed' but that would have been uncharitable

Unfortunately, you will find that the 'little silver rectangular piece' will not last long and it is the pins that have almost sheared. Either you are really good with a soldering iron and solder the pins or you replace the key.

Best solution...buy new keys from one of our preferred suppliers(cheaper than LR) and then find a member with a Nanocom to match the key to the vehicle.

    Thumbs up polmex

    Hi guys,

so.... Polmex key pads arrived 36hrs after ordering. They are so easy to install and now both keys work perfectly!!!

Anyone with a key issue should pull out the existing buttons from the fob and check that everything on the circuit board is sitting right - my prob was solved this way and has saved me $$'s.

    Until next time,

    Steph
