    TD5 oil, is 15w40 ok?

    Hi,

I need to get the D2 serviced, but can't get to Adelaide for a few weeks to get it done. During that time we are going to clock up about 1000k's.

Should I change the oil for some Shell RimulaX 15w40 that I have on hand or just leave the current oil in it? It has already done 11000km on Castrol Formula R Synth 5w30. Not sure if 15w40 mineral oil is too heavy for the TD5, the manual states 5w30/40.

I am planning on changing to Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 at service time.

    Cheers,
    Nova

I would leave it alone and service it properly when you get back

As the fella's above have said, don't sweat it and just change it when you get back.

leave it, a good synthetic oil easily makes the 15000Km mark

Dont put in anything heavier than 10/40w and always use synthetic oils. Even then 10/40 is pushing the friendship if you're not up near the tropics.

Thanks guys, I thought that would be what you would say, but wanted confirmation.

Going to use 5w40 synth when I get it serviced.

    Cheers,
