Engine Mounts - is there a right way around????

    Hi Guys,

Replaced the engine mounts the other day and since then I have had an engine shake through the car... have another thread going on in Tech for that.

Just need a point of clarification.... when looking at you engine mounts from below is the off-set hole in the bracket to the front or rear of the vehicle???

Just wondering if I have inadvertantly got them in about 180 degrees.

    Cheers...

Did you use genuine mounts ?

I swapped mine for non genuine last year, and it was like sitting in a 10 ton 9 litre truck.........awful, hence they came out again.

Not long ago, put in some genuine ones, and smooth as silk. Dont think it matters which way round tbh as they are pretty much symetrical.

There is a possibility that the mount is against the chassis as the holes are quite oversized, I checked this on the non genuine ones, but it was all clear and still vibrated like hell!!

The one I looked at today is to the rear... but also not sure if it matters.
