Good luck young fella, take care
(you'll be back lol)![]()
Some of you know that I finally sold my much loved D2. It is going to a forum member in the NT. I wanted to replace it with a D4, but it just worked out for me that the LC200 was a better choice given what I want to do with it. So far I haven't been disappointed, but I will miss my D2. It is my favourite of all the cars I have owned in almost 50 years of car ownership.
Since I am no longer a Land Rover owner, I will probably not venture here very often in future, and so I just want to publicly acknowledge the very useful advice and help I have received here, on this part of the forum in particular, over the years that I had the D2.
There are too many of you to name individually, but Incisor and Pedro in particular need mentioning because of the effort that Incisor puts in to providing the aulro website, and Pedro puts in to making D2 ownership the pleasure that it (usually) is. Thanks Incisor, Pedro and all of you who have helped me and others over the years: I have greatly appreciated that help, the opportunity to discuss issues, and the friendships that have developed through this forum.
I wish all of you the very best and look forward to catching up on your doings from time to time.
Cheers,
Terry

Thanks for your advice on towing caravans Terry. Much appreciated. An update: I am going to fit a H/R heavy duty tow bar to my Disco, just to put my mind at ease whilst using a WDH. Even though you now drive a Toyota.......dont be a stranger ehh???
See you on the road (i'll be the silver D2a with a Retreat hanging off the back that you overtake!!!)
Regards
Robbo.
PS: To quote a line from the God father series, "just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in"!!!!. You'll be back!!
Maybe we should all chip in for a going away present.......
LC200.....
200L drum of oil perhaps...????
Maybe that's what the LC200 stands for.. Litres of Crude - 200!!!!
Sent from my backyard TeePee using smoke signals.
LMR,
Good one, mate! But so far it is using less oil than any of my 4.6s did at the same age (just cracked 2,000 km). So far less than half a litre in total, whereas the 4.6s burned or lost around a litre per thousand until they were fully run in. The test will be what happens after it is run in, but Toyota reckon the issue is fixed but are waiting for long term results to confirm it (or otherwise) before saying that publicly.
The really good part is that on its first tank of fuel after I filled it, on a run from Canberra to Cooma-Jindabyne-Thredbo-Tom Groggin-Khancoban-Tumbarumba-Gundagai-Canberra, with lots of very steep hills and descents, lots of touristy driving around towns and tourist sites en route and a couiple of days driving in Canberra, it returned less than 12 litres per 100 km. The second tank, all within Canberra and Queanbeyan (ie city driving), gave me 12.7 LHK over 900 km. That is better than I ever did with my petrol D2 on the highway.
On the highway the 6th gear is fabulous. It just rumbles along at 100 kph and 1500 rpm, and will hold 6th down to around 95 kph except on serious hills.
It is a great tourer, but no where near as good as the D2 when it comes to places to store maps, sunnies etc, and nowhere near as much fun to drive, but overall a very impressive vehicle.
If I had the money, I would have kept the D2 as a runabout for the sheer fun of driving it, but I already have two cars and I could not afford to keep a third, so it had to go, sadly.
Hi Terry good luck with the new beast, don't be a stranger, come and say hi now and then.
No doubt there will be more towing threads
Baz.
Cheers Baz.
