you can buy a cap at any automotive parts store but your right there should be a pipe running to the other side of the engine. is your heater connected?

Heater seemed to work ok when I tested it briefly when I bought the car but never used it much as it's been summer and only had the car 2 months. The heater inlet pipe off the three way pipe #11 9 & 5 from the workshop manual are all there.

Can't try it now, no coolant!!!

On my '99 I have no EGR cooler.
Where you have a plug mine has the "steped" hose(as per other posts) joining to a steel pipe.
This pipe goes over the gearbox and joins a rubber hose leading to the bottom of the radiator.
The other hose of the same size on the radiator leads to the fuel cooler.

Need to ask others what they have I guees.
If you don't get a reply ask in the Technical area if it is right to be blocked off.
I think it's a return from the engine oil cooler.

Wondering if has had a "tempery" repair that didn't get seen to once back.

Thanks Pedro, that must the the edition before mine as diagram is slightly different, but it's still the same issue, no hose 7,6, or 22...

I opened up the thread about the oil return line in Tech Chatter on suggestion above, as it's a digression from the original leak question...
