Is it from around the steering box or O/S/F wheel area?
If so, it could be the reinforcement inside the chassis flexing. There's a mod to drill a few holes in the rail & weld it to stop the flex.
Hey all sorry if this has been covered but I've only my iPhone and the search on the app is useless, just after some suggestions on some symptoms,my d2 td5 220000ks has been making this aweful creak in reverse mostly when turning or at full lock, sometimes in drive to.getting a bit over repairs as of late past three weeks-intercooler hoses, battery and oil in harness again.meant to be going up blue mountains in a few weeks with some Nissan and toyota die hards.want to make sure I make it.thanks

It's coming from up the back of the car.I read about that, but I'm not sure.I know that the donut is on it's way out on the rear shaft but don't know if it is the problem
Any other suggestions?was also told changing diff oils could help?
I went through a bit of this process quite a while ago, things back there can act like a big sounding fork.
Creaks and cracks can come from dirt and muck in the tail shaft spline, re tensioning the axle nuts as the axle splines can creak in the hubs. Uni joint at top of tail shaft.
Mine creaks every now and again under stress,
If the diff oil has seen proper servicing I doubt it would contribute to a creak,,
maybe uni's?
