i changed my plugs and leads a little while back it took me about 2hr and then about 2hr to work out why the hazard lights wouldn't stop flashing, I feel your pain.
Jason.
I changed the plug leads on the D2 V8, what a job.
I removed the plenum to gain more access , but it is a job you wouldn't regulary do.
To make it easier to re attach the coil pack that was not even fixed to anything but a mod. I cut the heads off some 8mm bolts and screwed then into the rear of the plenum whilst it was off. Then after a bit of fumblimng behind after the plenum was refitted I just hung the coil pack onto these studs. Then fitted a nut with a 1/4 in drive socket , having the nut secured by a bit if plastic sheet in the socket to jam the nut in place.
I did notice that after I had finished I noticed an extra spark plug lead dangling near number 7 plug. it was an old one that some one forgot to remove in the history of ownership of this D2. What was amazing it was threaded through a hole in the braided wire earth lead at rear of the engine

You do know there are four bolts holding the coil packs on? The bottom two should be slackened so when you remove the top two, the pack tilts backwards enough to lift the plenum top. Then you refit the top two and tighten the bottom ones. Multiple 1/4 drive extensions used here. Just did this on a P38, love the extra 1/2 inch of clearance.
I removed the engine mounts and dropped the engine.
Sounds like one of those jobs you pay somebody else to do...
That sounds a lot like a job for a very long weekend...
But, owning a TD5, I got better things to do...
