    Where to fit the isolator

I am installing a dual battery system with the battery in the cargo pod in the rear right of the Disco II TD5. My question is; does the isolator need to be mounted in the engine compartment close to the battery or can I run the cable back and have the isolator mounted in the pod with the battery?

I have an ARB dual battery installation and the isolator is mounted on the second battery tray which is located in front of the firewall on the passenger side. Not sure if location is an issue but am sure others will chime in with opinions & facts.

You can mount the isolator wherever you like, provided you run a big enough cable to prevent voltage drop, and it is fused as close to the battery as possible.
Fitting a fuse as close as practicable to a power source is very important as it protects the cable as well as any devices that it feeds.
