Yes, I'm the same. I just about always ran Shell diesel (spelt deisel at the bowser though), and find that when I fill up on BP from Sydney that my consumption is significantly better. This is also repeatable. The difference is about 100km from 130 litres used (Long range tank).

On Shell, I typically use about 13.5l/100km.

4" lift, 33's at all times, bars, roof racks, chips, intercooler, sliders, long range tanks, batts, shelves etc etc etc. Its 2500kg dry and empty.
    Cheers

I use BP Ultimate and am getting 12.5L/100km. Thats city driving and really bad city driving, mostly 5minute trips unfortunately until our house is done then it'll be 30min minimum. think i need to check my MAF though. I have bigger tyres than stock, 2 inch lift, alloy nudge bar, XGT spotties, roof rack and aerials.

    Sorry Dave

    Something doesn't add up!

Even the best TD5s only get into mid 9's
You'll be lucky to ever break below 10s at speeds over 80+

Even LRs most optimistic figures are higher.

Dunno, guys,i have had 3 Disco TD5's,(auto's)and have managed to get 9's easily on a run.Nothing on the roof & lightly loaded. They will often get low 9's.
Around town they all seemed to get 11's.
Since fitting a snorkle to the one i have now & having a BP chip fitted 2 yrs ago,it won't get below high 9's,often low ten's on a run.

On the Cape trip i did in 07,before this disco i have now, was chipped & the snorkle fitted,we logged fuel & k's for the complete trip & it did 10.2 average, including 800k's totering around paddocks spottng/shooting.Nothing on roof.

On the Cape trip 09,after chip & snorkle,no shooting/spotting,foxwing & gear on roof, more heavily loaded, did 12 average for trip. This trip we were also pushing along faster as didn't have a lot of time.

Both trips did around 7500k's total each, including OTT both ways.

I have also noticed they seem to use a lot of fuel doing slow stuff such as totering around paddocks spotting, etc.

They seem to get best economy around 85 to 95 KMH,once locked in 4th(auto)
But overall,i recon they aren't bad compared with other vehicles same class.

Hmm well my TD6 L322 rangie that weighed half a tonne heavier did the same so personally if I do the maths a lighter car with a smaller engine perhaps not as refined should be able to do the same which it did. I read on hear many people not getting under ten and was concerned about the economy before buying a TD5 disco but I now feel it’s great

I am now doing a tank which is more around town/ combined so I will see how that goes

Like I said I drive easy.. meaning I don’t put my foot down to get up hills but rather let the inbuilt design characteristics and torque of the engine do the work for me. So instead of booting it to maintain 100kph I let it die back to 80/90kph, Also I never use the throttle abruptly but rather be very smooth and let the engine burn what I give it rather than it getting a gut load of fuel it does not know what to do with, then when I reach the crest of a hill I back off the throttle and let the terrain do the work to get back up to speed. In all honesty if I could not get into the 9litres per 100k bracket out of this car I would think something is seriously wrong

Anyway ill report back on my next tank

I should also add that i used fuel conditinor on that 1st tank which does improve economy slightly

And two weeks ago i did a trip from sydney to brisbane in the L322 pulling 1 tonne of camper trailer behind me and a heavily loaded car and returned 10.1 litres per 100ks, Then 10.7 on the way home that i was not too happy about..lol

Honestly guys its all about how you use your right foot

I get in the low-mid 9's for a D2a TD5. Country town driving, including a lot of school runs.

Thanks Dave... I'm impressed you get those figures...

Not commenting on YOUR driving (as I have never witnessed it) but the most frustrating aspect as a motorist is people driving so gently that they dont get off from lights quickly or up to posted speeds quickly (not stupid quick - just quickly)

Or holding up traffic crawling along when the vehicle has the capacity to hold speed limits...

My pet peeve - Caravan towing persons who refuse to do AT LEAST the 100 km/h limit that a Prime Mover/Trail Combo is allowed to do...

Yes, we get better economy at 90km/h when towing the "Griswald Family Roadblocker" but safe? No way.... The key to safe driving - go with the flow of the traffic, especially the big stuff!!!!
