    Tyre Comparison Disco 2

I am looking to replace the General Grabber AT3's on my 2002 Disco. TD5. Looking at:
    Michelin Lattitude Cross
    Pirelli Scorpions ATR
    Cooper Discoverer A/T2
I do most bitumen driving (abt. 70%) and the rest gravel roads. I also tow a Goldstream Off-Road Camper.
Anyone had any comparative use of teh above tyres or have any views on which are best.
Looking for quiet road tyre; good handling; and obviously, good wear.
    Cheers

I would choose Cooper ATR's out of that list, I personally have used them on multiple vehicles and have nothing but praise for them, they cope well with loaded vehicles and wear well. I have had pirelli's on a pathfinder before and they were good but did not wear as well as the coopers. Cooper ATR's are great on bitumen and gravel.

Unless doing mud driving, my coopers ATR's LT were great. Highly recommended. Make sure you air down when needed and the tyres will last.

Also get the LT light truck as its just that much more robust for staking etc.

Thinking of changing from Generals, as I have had a bit of uneven tyre wear, particulalry when towing on gravel roads.
My preference is for the Michelins, as they were on Disco. when I bought it and did good milage.

    Disco Tyres

Check out the new Bridgestone AT - have had on two vehicles - Land Rover D2 TD5 and Land Cruiser. Great mileage, fantastic in the sand (aired down), quiet, great in the wet and good fuel consumption. Price is the best also - $250.00 each direct from Bridgestone. 80K + mileage.

I am about to put new tyres on too. Have been looking at Silverstone AT 117's. They look VERY similar to BFG AT's but are a LOT cheaper. I am on a bit of a budget ATM so they are looking like my best option. I have not heard too many negative reports either.

Just fitted the Michelin crosses,to the D2 for $295 fitted and Balanced. Great Quiet tyre on black top , found excellent grip in wet. I don't do as much heavy off roading anymore so can't say how they perform there.
Had Cooper Sts on the previous D1, quite noisey , never managed to wear them out over the many kms I travelled on them.
Hold onto your steering wheel and pray trying to stop in the wet. Also expect wheelies on acceleration on inclines in the wet.
Found the STs a good tyre on dry conditions ,but skates in the wet.
