Very 1st thing.
Check the DC join on the front propshaft (transfer case end).
Do it now! Do not drive it again until checked.

Hi all
I have just bought a Disco 2 2000 model V8 petrol on direct injected lpg.
I have noticed a "clunk" sound and vibration (sometimes a slight vibration sometimes a bit more) when I re-apply the petrol only in 3rd and only when on the flat or downhill.
Any ideas?
I read it could be a sticky solenoid or a software thing.
Hoping it isn't a major drivetrain issue...

Thanks Fluids
forgive my ignorance but wouldn't this affect all gears?
This noise is ONLY in 3rd - everything else runs smooth as silk...
Possibly .... however ...
Rule #1 - It's a Land Rover. Expect the unexpected.
Rule #2 - See Rule #1
It's simple enough to check, there's more than enough info in the Good Oil to show you what to look for, and takes next to no time to check off the one thing that can go wrong with a D2 that IS a big time show stopper. (replacement transmission anyone ?)
If that's not it, then there is one less thing to check off your list!
Cheers!
