    D2 V8 Custom exhaust

Well i know im rehashing an old thread subject but couldnt find the one i last posted in so here we are.
To bring everyone up to speed I've been looking for someone in Brisbane to build a custom exhaust for the disco for awhile and was finally put onto a guy in Wynnum - Cookies Custom Pipes.
I was referred to him by Roothie, somewhat of a 4X4 legend in these parts, and this guy is great.
He really knows his stuff and while he's probably not the cheapest you cant fault his work (or his passion for his work for that matter).
Now for the system: custom flanges to get rid of that horrible restriction,
2.5" mandrel bent into stainless hiflow cats
3" Y section into single 3" straight through muffler
    3" to the tip.
Sounds awesome and you can really notice the difference with throttle response.

Now if i've done this right there should be a video clip here......have a listen

Does sound good. Mine is nearly the same but I kept it at 2.5 all the way through and had a resonator put on to kill any drone. Extractors make another positive difference on top of that again.

I'd be asking some very pointed questions if the guy was charging 1K,,

    referals to other customers,
    expected improvements,
    etc,,

and I suppose there ARE two of them,,

I supplied a set of high flow Magnaflow cats that I had from my Falcon V8 and they installed them along with a set of Genies and a Redback 2.5" exhaust. Middle muffler is a straight through style and then a resonator at the rear. Better torque, better fuel economy and for me a much better sound. All the work cost me $1300.

Genie headers will fit the D2. The only reason they are not listed as a D2 item is they are missing the oxygen sensor lugs. It is a 10 minute job for an exhaust shop to weld the lugs in for you.

and IF I was that interested in a set of hand made extractors,
it would be 4-2-1 with the secondaries as long as possible(preferably 40 to 70 cm's),
and just to go against the trend,,
dual pipes with a max Dia of 1 and 3/4inches.
Lukey Original Glass Pack mufflers on the end,,

    totally awesome sound,,
performance increase? hopefully with the secondaries a bit more torque but any gains outweighed by driving style changes

    sigh,,,

    I have some more information in the following thread;

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-...st-sizing.html

Regarding sizing of dual systems if you go by cross sectional area alone dual 2.25" exhausts is about equivelant to a single 3.0".

If going dual 1.75" pipes they have an equivelant area to a single 2.5" which I believe is the standard size on the D2 V8.

Do you remember the two video clips I posted of the Rangie a while back? I am running extractors and twin 1 5/8 pipes. Only difference is the "mufflers" are straight throughs, not much bigger than hotdogs. Very loud and barky.
