Yes it goes up to the ECU. It is the plug closes to the fire wall. Its a 9 pin plug either yellow or black. You need to solder it into the white (pin3) and brown (pin 6) wires. The wires on the sensor can go either way.

With the hub off and the sensor in place I put it in the vice and wound some rope around the hub and tried to get a voltage reading with a multi meter. But All I got was 0V. With a CRO you can wind it by hand as slow as you like and a wave form will appear. I am told the multimeter won't pick up the signal which is true.

Did you try the meter in 'AC' mode?

Digital multi meters in 'DC' mode will show 0 volts with any inductive sensors as it only gives the average voltage, which will be 0V unless a floating ground is used. In which case it will give the gnd voltage.

Hey, just to let everyone know how this turned out. It turned out to be the wheel hub and I refused to believe it until it began to growl. Only when you seperate it from the car don you then get to feel how bad they get. anyways all sorted . I replaced it with a 2nd hand one from BRITISH OFFROAD $under 200 . Hey its a 2nd car.. And its probably lower one ks than the other 3.

Strangely enough, I have just found a short wire sensor in the stores! It's not one we would fit in the workshop, we would only fit the one with the wire to the ECU. Normally we sell them for £50, but if anyone wanted the short wire one then I'd let it go for £25.

I was in the process of changing my front hubs from oil filled back to grease and the boss came out and wanted to go shopping half way through. I buttoned up the left side with grease and left the right with oil. Backed out the drive way and the front right brake locked on. Drove back in and the front left locked on - nearly wiped out the carport post. I checked the position of both sensors, connections etc and found nothing wrong. Checked for faults and there were none. Backed out again and same thing. Stripped the right hub, replaced seals, reassembled it with grease and problem gone.

Once a new sensor is fitted and wire in, the 3 lights (abs traction and hill decent) should no longer be illuminated except when the key is in the on position ? Correct?
Does "clearing the fault " mean clearing the 3 lights? Basically after 2 months off and on working on it(its a 3rd vehicle) have replaced the abs sensor on the old man's discovery. We had the fault scanned by land rover beforehand and they diagnosed the right rear abs sensor. Finally get it out of the garage and the lights are still on. Should have paid the 1000 bucks lr wanted instead of DIY. Any ideas?

You need to have the faults read again. In theory your fault should not be the sensor.

By the way you have what is referred to as 3 amigos, very very common and there are some very easy DIY solutions. Check the good oil section for 3 amigos
