Sounds like you've done your clacker valve....
Seriously though, check your sway-bar bushes.
I have a loud clacking noise coming from the front drivers side area when I hit a hole or corrugation or speed hump a little too fast.
If I leave the black top and start down a track it will do it on the first bump then nothing for a while then it will do it again, then nothing for a while.
The steering feels ok and the Disco is solid on the road. The shockers are fairly new and not loose on their mounts. The drag link was replaced not long ago as well.
Anyone have an idea on what could be the cause?

Could also be a loose bump stop, been there, fixed that.....
If a v8 could be the metal tin plate that's tack welded to the bottom of the cats. Very tinny clank
I had a clunk noise coming from the passenger side, mostly happened on roundabouts with the change of direction. Had me stuffed, I'd checked every thing. Took it to Canberra Motor Works, turned out to be a loose body/chassis mount.
If you have ACE check the bolt for the ram on the D/S. The one that I think it's at the forward end that holds the ram to the bushes (the bolt runs R to L across the car). If loose the ram can move excessively on everything. Sorry it's not a great description but when you look you'll see what I mean. I chased this noise for ages. Only when it was suggested it was the bushes did I find it loose.
Bottom mount for the front shock!!
Front radius arm bushes!!
Front body mount cracked, they break around the bolt hole.

I felt the sway bay yesterday and it was loose on the drivers side so I'll start with sway bar bushes. I'll also check the bump stop, body mount and radius arm bushes.
Cheers,
