Hi guys,
I have read a lot on the forums about D2 bull bars which is really helpful. What ISNT helpful is the lack of 2nd hand ones out there. Does anyone know if you can fit a different model/vehicle bar onto a D2? Even the 200 series cruiser is cheaper second hand!
Hi Mate,
Have you tried Triumph Rover Spares, I see they have quite a few second hand bullbars for D2's.
Cheers Matt
Yeah thanks, i am taking a trip to TRS in the next week or so to do some damage to the back pocket. Still the used ones are not cheap at all. As I said, i can get a new 200 series steel bar for less than a 6 year old disco bar....
I agree they are overpriced, I think TRS charges about $750 for an ARB bar. I would be tempted buying one from them but the distance is too great and would work out too pricey for postage. I find it hard to believe you could get a decent 200 series bar for less than $950, a genuine toyota bar for a hilux is over $2000. I'm holding out to see if the Xrox bars will be approved for use on D2.
Cheers Matt
Hey Barney
I've just put an ARB Deluxe bar ie. standard for the D2 unless you want to muck about with the Sahara bar which I believe is made to fit the update model D2a. I think...
I also looked at 2nd handies but unless you can get one locally then the freight is a killer.
it seems that many vehicles that are crash damaged or rolled sustain damage to the bar so the chances of recovering a bar off a vehicle at at wrecker for example, are slim. And it's probably reasonably unlikely that many people would want to remove their bullbar and refit the stock bumper again making a bullbar available for sale.
If you were able to you may be able to have a look at the differences between the mounting kits/crush cans that come with the ARB, TJM and ECB bars for the D2 and then compare with the Toyo versions.
All the engineering that goes into these items is significant and there to safeguard you/your vehicle so you'd be taking a few risks in that regard.
But I'm willing to bet money that you already knew that eh?
Hi thanks for that.
Yes you're dead right about all that, and its unfortunate for me that this is the case as it now costs me more money.
I am looking at TRS for one next week and if not will check out Ironman further and maybe others but ARB and TJM are simply extortionate. ARB quoted me $1600+ yesterday for the standard and $1900 for the sahara.
Thanks.
I can't see any reference on the Ironman site to bullbars for a LR, let alone a Discovery. What is the part nr?
Yeah I know my thoughts exactly, but someone told me they had seen an ironman for a disco so I am doing more research too.
AFAIK the ARB and TJM are both steel. The ECB is alloy and has its downsides apart from lighter weight.
I have bought some stuff from vanquip recently and this is their listing for the Disco 2.
The top one of their 2 ARB listings is the Sahara I believe. The pictures in the listings don't show the actual item for some reason.
You're in Adelaide and they're in Brisbane so the freight wouldn't make it viable I doubt.
Best of luck with it all. Ditch the wombat bar and fit a steering arm guard when you fit the bar - I foolishly followed the instructions that ARB provided. It said to fit the wombat bar and tighten the f*%k out of the bolts. And then on the next page it asks you to drill 2 holes from underneath up through the crush cans and into the chassis rail for the 3rd of 3 bolts that hold the bar onto the crush cans.
You can guess which item is in a direct line with where the holes need to be drilled?![]()
