Service kits on fleabay - any good?

    Hey all.

Going to do a service myself (eek) and figured I'd check out the pre-packed filter kits that some places are selling on ebay.

Anything I should avoid? The 4x4 centre at Coffs sell a complete kit at (what I assume) is a decent price inc postage. I just don't know anything about filter quality and stuff.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

    Wil

I have bought a number of filter sets from Ebay sellers.

Never had any problems, and on the surface, it would appear that most of the people selling them are LR spanner spinners themselves.

The quality is what I would expect, and what I would use if I was buying the filters from Supercheap or Repco.

Just make sure you shop around, as the prices can vary for exactly the same thing.

    Hello Wil2K,

try roverlordoffroadspares on Ebay. I deal with them regularly. Can't do enough to help(and its not my shop).

    Cheers,

No problem whatsoever from my point of view. I regularly buy filter service kits for both my auto and manual Discos.

The filters are 9 times out of 10 OEM filters and let's face it - for a service kit to suit an auto for under $100 delivered......I really can't fault the quality or the service even if they weren't OEM!

Yes, I've used them. No problems ... but, look for the kits with the Mahle spin-on oil filter (not the cooper one). The Mahle is a bit shorter and doesn't foul the turbo oil drain hose .... easier to fit/remove.

That's because I ran into one of their reps and bitched to them and had him call my genuine supplier. They also listed that the diesel and V8 D2 filters were the same (they are the same width but different length).

I got a letter back with a package and 6 free filters.

And they still do, as the ryco catalogue air filter did not fit my V8. Had to take in my old one and get them to look up the number.
