    Bilstein shocks

Can anyone tell me if the following shocks will fit a d2 with SLS and will the bushings need changing or is it a straighforward bolt in job?

Bilstein Shock - Front LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SERIES II 99-04 (Exc. ACE System), Heavy Duty Bilstein Part# BS-F4-BE5-6046-H0

Bilstein Shock - Rear LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SERIES II 99-04 (Exc. ACE System), Heavy Duty Bilstein Part# BS-F4-BE5-6047-H0

I have searched the forums but couldn't seem to get a definitive answer on whether the above rear shocks will work with standard SLS or do i need extended shocks? All the posts seem to talk about the 2" spacer lifted SLS.

Also I think my front springs will need replacing, any recommendations and is it worth buying them from US with the shocks??

    Thanks in advance

    Rob

So further searching has left me thinking that the front shock part number is correct but the rears may need bilstein be5-6248-h5 to allow the SLS to extend when in offroad mode. Can anyone confirm this please?

Any other recommendations out there? Koni's, Terrafirma, OME etc??

My setup is more for touring than rock crawling so don't want anything too extreme.

    Cheers,

    Rob

I have the same shocks fitted to my D2 with SLS - no problems so far. Fitment is straightforward, although the gas preload means you should line up an assistant to compress while you slide the bolts in. Just take the shock tower off for fitting on the front (4 x 13mm nuts). Mine are H0 front and H1 in the rear- stiffer, but nice ride.

We have Bilstein on one car and Terrafirma on the other. Bilstein I think rides better than Terrafirma.

Cheers for the replies, looks like I can order the recommended ones from eshock then.
Just ordered a Nanocom Evo so might have to put the shockies on hold for now, I found that increasing my tyre pressure has taken some of the bounce out of the ride for now so just gotta hold out for a bit more overtime!!!

    Hi Titch,

have you fitted these new shocks yet? I have an 04 disco with 2 inch lift and looking to fit Bilsteins. I took out my airbags and swapped in coils with polyair bags to avoid the going down feeling when out bush. it still has the stock shocks and the back end is dreadful. All the locals here say I need the longer version Bilsteins and that they are not available in the USA.

I ended up getting 4 Lovells gas shocks off eBay for $200 so decided to run with those for awhile. The ride difference from stock is incredible, I'm not sure my stock shocks had anything left in them.
A few people on this forum have fitted bilsteins so I'm sure someone can help you out

The Bilstein part numbers for my 2" lifted D2 are:
    Fronts F4-BE5-B994-MO, Rears F4-BE5-B995-MO

After lifting make up a 10mm or 12mm spacer to go between the cross member and chassis otherwise on full extension the front prop will touch to top of the cross member.
