    D2 specific reversing camera

There is a bit of chatter in the D3 list about a reversing camera with a housing designed specifically to integrate with the D3 number plate lighting.

Has anybody come across something similar to suit the D2 ? I am getting keen to find a camera that does not look like a afterthought.

    Hello peter5111,

Go to Ebay, type in 'reversing camera' and check out the assortment. I'm sure you will find something there that is suitable.

    Cheers,

I bought one, back when they were advertising them as D2/D3 specific cameras.

They now advertise them as D3 only for a reason

Nice people, offered me a full refund. I kept it anyway because its a pretty neat unit, and I'm going to install it somewhere different, probably under the rear bumper so I can watch the tow ball as I reverse towards the caravan. It comes with a cable long enough to run from the roof console, down the A pillar, along the car and to the rear bumper quite nicely. Seems good quality too.

But it won't fit the D2 on the rear door where it does on the D3.

When you build your new rear bar, drill a hole & plonk one right above the towball.

Just like I am going to do - one day...

Mines just above the tow ball and has an excellent field of view.

Fitted into the recess I left when I made the bar.

Coupled to a Pioneer in dash screen.

I attached my rear view camera inside the rear door, onto the underside of the stop light. Means it doesn't get dusty off road, is within the wiper sweep, doesn't need to be weather proof and gives a good rear view of road. No good if you want to look at rear tow point, however.
