Fitting points the same.
D2a bar has a different clearance / cut around headlight assemblies and a different centre section for clearance.
The lower bar (tube) is also lower to clear the innermost light.

As said around headlights and grill is slightly different but main point to remmeber is compliancing, the bars are complianced for the model and technically it is illegal to have a D2a bar on a D2 as it was not complianced for that vehicle(due to airbag laws) even though they will fit, in fact you can with a little adjustment fit and Rangie classic or D1 bar to a D2 or vice versa eg you can physically fit a D2a ARB sahara bar to a D1, however you run up against airbag laws again. However this is only really a problem if you have an accident and someone bothers to check.
