    Rear new springs sagging

    Hi everyone,

I mentioned before on here that I had got a 2nd hand 2" lift kit supplied and installed by TRS in Adelaide for $750...BARGAIN!!!! When I got it home, I realized that the back drivers side spring was down meaning that point on the car had only risen 1" not 2" like the rest of the car. I took it back to TRS and really, after he tried to tell me it was "the car", they were very good and replaced it with a brand new spring. I am unsure of the brand, but it was brand new. I have now had the springs in for a couple of months and the back end is sagging again, both sides. Note: The car doesn't have air bags or anything, just springs and shockers.

So, does anyone have any ideas on what I should do? I have thought about buying a new rear pair for HD ride or could I just put 50mm spacers in? The shocks are for 2" lift, so the spacers would be fine as far as I understand. The spacers seem to be almost as expensive as a pair of rear springs...

    Ideas? Comments?

    Spring sag

Need some more info Barney eg - a)what do you have in the rear of the car, b)is the load distributed properly, c)was the replacement spring a 'cheapie' (It was obviously not replaced under warranty as you stated you got a cheap 'deal' on the lift kit) d)Do you measure your car on a dead flat surface?

My Disco has 2" lift with Dobinson springs and Billstein shocks. I've got a fair bit of weight in the car at any one time (Kitchen and drawers, recovery gear, fridge etc) and it sits pretty well level at each corner. I use Polyairs to level up only when I am fully loaded and heading out for a lengthy trip.

Dare I suggest - sometime 'cheap' isn't always a winning combination and a lot of times the quality is determined by the low price???

    Hey thanks Cattmatt.

It was a 2nd hand set of springs so who knows what brand it was. I dont usually carry anything really, in the back but its still a little down on the front end. I just did a trip over the weekend with a half full ice box, and a few boxes and swags but no serious weight like I will in summer when towing the ski boat and it was sagging, also not good for 4wdriving. I want it sturdy and be able to keep its height. Nothing worse in my books than it sagging with not much weight at all. Im thinking of spending $200 for a new rear pair from Fusion Auto in Perth that are rated at constant load of 300-400kg with 2" lift.

You do carry a lot, which I want to be able to do without it sagging. Through summer we tow a large inboard ski boat and a family worth of geear for skiing days, and then in winter we tow a camper trailer and lots of gear. I dont want it sagging. What would a pair of dobinson rear springs 2" lifted cost?

You could always re-install the airbags...

    Just like nature intended...

    Hi barney,

Try West Coast Suspension in Perth I got new springs and EFS shocks for close to that price. They will help you out with rear HD Springs!

    Hi Mate,
    Check out suspension stuff website:
    https://www.suspensionstuff.com.au/s...d936d103a23d57
Shane is very good to deal with, and I can highly recommend Dobinsons springs, I run them in the front of my D2 and I have used them in many other 4wds. The prices at suspension stuff are very competitive.
    Cheers Matt
