    Post Aftermarket sun roof

Is it advisable to install an aftermarket sun roof (I understand the D2 has spots for 2 sun roofs), what are the suppliers and how much $$$$ damage am I looking at? I heard stories that aftermarket sun roofs do leak.

Edit: This question is not just related to Landrover aftermarket sun roofs but any available sunroofs

    Have a 2003 D2.

    Thanks

why damage a perfectly good roof by cutting a hole in it and later have leaks ?

No it's the other way around. The factory ones leak and the aftermarket Webasto Hollandia's top sliders don't. I have had an auto close one for about 6 years and it's a gem. It transforms a D2 and makes it even more fun. No drain tubes to clean - only open when dry. Cheers

The factory ones only leak when the drain pipes come off.
I believe they were installed using pommy spit as glue.

I wouldn't put one in if your car didn't already have one as you might ruin your hood lining

Ha ha...yep the sun roof(s) is the only thing that holds up the LR hood lining, known for sticking it out in the harsh australian sun.

Its not the sunroof that leaks, its the sealant used that cracks and the drain pipes aren't capable of moving any serious amounts of water. I had my 2000ES dual sunroofs removed and resealed and never a problem since. If you want a sunroof i would get either an aftermarket one or LR one and if it starts leaking in 10 years worry about it then.
