20 litres per 100 km if you brake and accelerate with more enthusiasm than your average bear.

(Redbook has it at 22/100 but not in my case and I have a 2003 V8)

Can’t remember the highway rate but around 14 – 15 litres per 100 km sounds close to the mark.

    Thumbs up Pre-purchase inspection

There's probably a few independent mechanics or workshops in Perth that would do a pre-purchase inspection for your peace of mind.

I would consider $200-300 on an inspection to be extremely good value if it highlights anything that would lead it to fail a RWC. That then becomes your bargaining chip with the owner...ie. 'it needs "X" done and it will cost "Y" so let's talk prices again' sort of conversation.

Maybe there are some Perthites watching the thread that can offer some recommendations for an inspection?

it has the new double circle head lights so i assume its a d2a?

it is really clean and everything but i have several concerns.

she has no service history, she doesn't know what model d2 (i will be having a look at it soon) its a V8 which worries me (heavy on fuel) and she has no information on the previous owners. also as i haven't had any past experience with land rover i am worried about the horror stories i have heard.

but she is asking <12k and it has really low miles on it

can any body help/offer feed back to help my in making my decision

    thanks

$6,000 for top of the line gas conversion would pay for itself in about 40,000k's.

I wish I had done it when I bought the car but.......you know!

On the upside, I have had 40,000km of relatively trouble free motoring.

The most important thing is to put a bit of time into understanding how the car works. The AULRO site and thye RAVE cd are important factors in achieving this.

For the record, I get 16.8mpg travelling to and from work (18km trip), and 22mpg on the highway. I can live with that, but it hurts a little to fill the tank from near empty.

One last point; I have never once regretted buying it.
