I've had a read through a few threads about feul econ and have noticed alot of people saying its the MAF sensor. I've decided im going to replace this myself.
can anyone tell me the correct Maf sensor for a 99 D2 V8 ?

Would be a good idea the have your O2 sensors checked out. If these things fail then your fuel goes through the roof.

O2 sensors are located just infront of your catalitic converters of the Y-pipe section of exhuast leaving the exhuast manifold. You will see a couple of spark plug looking things connected there. These are the O2 sensors. Best way to check they are working is to plug D2 into computer and get a reading which unfortunately means a trip to the mechanic or to find someone local to you who has a scanguage or similar. The scan guage can let you know if the sensors are throwing fault codes. It's an easy job to replace just let the vehicle cool down and replace, there is a plug connector on the firewall. O2 sensors are usually around 100 - 150 each. Cheapest solution would be to get your mechanic with test book to check readings and if faulty just get new ones and replace yourself.

    Cheers

    Hi Disco,

I have a spare MAF that you can borrow if you just want to compare. Also have a Hawkeye so you read any fault codes that may exist.

I'm located in Bayswater, if your interested I'll PM my contact details.

    Cheers

just another bit of advice, use Genuine ( I.E. Bosch ones) O2 sensors, I have had problems with aftermarket ones, even 'good quality' ones.

Took out the MAF last night and cleaned it , (cheeky black hose still in tact) at the moment can't say it has made much of a difference .It was all pretty clean inside already but sprayed some circuit board cleaner on the terminals and gave them a clean up.

Im beginning to think it may be the O2 sensors.. does anyone have a part number for these ??
