Is the airconditioning on? If so turn it off and the fan should stop.
hey all,
after replacing head gasket just started vehicle and thermo won't switch off and doesn't want to reach operating temp??? not sure if ecu may have logged an overheating code that needs to be cleared or maybe it,s the temp sensor, but car also seems to be running rough and in limp home mode.. the joys of landy ownership!!!

If the car has overheated due to the headgasket issue, the ECM locks the fan on, it needs to be cleared by a diagnostic tool to "reset" it.
If the coolant temp sensor is or was disconnected when the engine was started a fault will also be logged and cause the fan to run the same as an overheated engine, ie whenever the coolant temp sensor goes out of range.

Skiddy,
where in WA are you, there are plenty of people with nanocoms that can reset the codes for you.

From the manual (82-20):
Engine cooling fan control
While the A/C system is on, operation of the electric engine cooling fan, to assist refrigerant condenser operation, is determined by a combination of vehicle speed and external air temperature. When cooling fan operation is required, the ATC ECU outputs a cooling fan request to the ECM, which then energises the cooling fan relay. The cooling fan request is output if vehicle speed is 80 km/h or less while the external air temperature is 28 °C (82 °F) or more. The request is cancelled, and the cooling fan switched off, if either the vehicle speed increases to 100 km/h, or the external air temperature decreases to 25 °C (77 °F).
ATU ECU = Climate control panel unit.
ie If the external air temp is above 28C and speed is below 80Kph and the aircon is turned on the fan will run.
cheers for all the advice, need to code injectors anyway so because i'm down south(bridgetown) i'm going to trailer it to nearest service centre in bunbury and get all codes cleared at same time. fingers crossed
