Just please follow the pre assembly tensioning/stretch sequence. And repeat as it says. If doing in car the back couple of studs can't be screwed in until after the heads are fitted but it's not an issue. Also when fitting do not over-tighten into the block, just use the allen key and one finger tension is all it needs.

Why head studs, do people continually want to keep pulling the heads off?
Surely using stretch bolts the job should last 100,000's of kms if done correctly.

I have never heard of a vehicle that constantly needs it's heads pulled off, is this just a land rover trait?
Surely nissan and toyota owners don't pull their heads off as much as land rover owners?

I think i will go the studs route, simply an improvement. Funny thing is i have had head bolt problems before on other vehicles, ford, m/benz and toyota even with mono torque gasket and following correct tightening sequence etc, and yes i do have a torque angle guage and have had my torque wrench calibrated in the past.

Also note that the ARP stud kit is cheapest on ebay out of the states by a good margin over what ive seen it for from the UK

The TTY (torque to yield) bolts in both Toyos and LR are notoriously bad. I bought a set to test (as I had already had enough experience in toyo V8 heads/TTY bolts to know not to use). The variation in both stretch length and point of stretch was alarming as was the tension required to release. They should stretch somewhere just under the head, usually in a spot that is relieved and you can see post use.

It's not about how often you remove the heads but how reliably they clamp.

Mono torque gaskets in a toyo are asking for trouble. They have enough head issues without putting up another barrier.
