you might want to mention that you have an ARB dual batt tray mounted on the fire wall. You are kind of limited by the tray dimensions, so get the biggest deep cycle you can fit in that spot. The exide you are running at the moment would be fine and thats what ARB put in there if they intsall the system for you. Optima yello tops seem to be the go if you can aford the $295 which is what you can pick them up for on ebay (delivered) 55a/hr D34

If it's in the engine bay, an Optima D34 (55AHr) Yellow top can be had for $295 delivered.

These are dual purpose deep cycle / starting.

I'm looking at putting a second battery in my D2. Yeah theres not much room near the fire wall for a decent sized deep cycle. So I'm gonna convert the second battery install (on the firewall) to run my car and the standard location at the front to run a good size deep cycle. It's just a thought that you may be able to consider.

Thanks guys... Ye the arb tray is limited to only a few batteries.. Any thoughts on marine grad deep cycles??

Same deal .... Optima D34M Blue Top ... $295 delivered. Marine deep cycle & starting. Same as a Yellow Top but with extra +/- secondary terminals.

The AGM Optima's have the advantage over most other batteries that they can be recharged really quickly .... way quicker than calcium &/or lead acid wet cells.

I have the ARB Tray ... the D34 Optima's will fit.

Some of the other model yellow tops have the 2nd terminals (which are female threaded) which is great to attach extra stuff to.

I went for a Supercharge MRV48 in the ARB tray. Autobarn had them for $150 a few weeks ago. It's the same dimensions as the Exide the tray is designed for so fits without any modifications. Seems to do an ok job based on the last couple of weekend trips. I am using one of Traxide controllers so it's also using capacity from the starting battery.

If it's a STD lead acid battery you will need to check it and top it up regularly.
