Thread: 2003/4 td5 disco advice

Looking at upgrading my d1 v8, did the 03/4 models have the oil pump bolt problem or any other major issues?? Never had a diesel 4x4 before so should I stick with the v8 or us there a few things I could do to make it bulletproof

Hi Matt. Pretty much all you need to know is in the D2 & Good Oil forums. The 03/04 are the pick of the bunch (the facelift models, which incl' late 02 models as well).

They are pretty much bullet proof, just address the few know issues, and do reqular maintenance & service and it should return you happy motoring.

The V8's are just as good, if not a little thirsty, but fitting LPG makes them cheap to run. (Cheaper than a diesel, but you don't get much range compared to a diesel).
