    DVD Player

Hi. I have just bought a 2003 TD5. THe previous owner failed to mention the head unit is not there. Kids are devastated. I have found one on e-bay in the USA. Is this going to work or will the region be wrong. Can it be changed, do i need the remote etc.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks all

    Hi there Mikey,
Are you sure the DVD head unit is not there, it should be under the front passenger seat (have a look under the seat from behind in the rear seat footwell area)?

Cant help with a replacement, sorry.

PS Good to see another member in SW WA. There don't seem to be many around on the coastal strip south of Perth.

    Cheers,
    Chris

    No such luck

    Hi Chris.

No, looked under the seat, just the wiring and support brackets left.

I'm pulling my DVD player out soon. I'm replacing it with an indash unit.

The quality of them is not that great, either that or the roof mounted screens quality is not that great...

    Get an MP4 player instead

I haven't done it yet*, but you can get a WD media player and put this into the ashtray hole (so the remote works) or where the DVD player was. Why? DVDs take up so much room - a USB stick or HDD can hold a lot more movies and is easier to use than the DVD under the seat.

    * I have a DVD player in the front and have put the signal into the second channel for the ceiling DVD screen. I can either play MP4s off a stick, or when the Disco is a booze bus, play a music DVD through all speakers, with the 5 rear passengers able to see the video.

The front DVD player is incidental - I needed a reverse camera screen, which is provided when getting the DVD player. It also has USB, SD and telephone bluetooth. Only thing missing is GPS. It's a single DIN jaycar unit.
