    My backend wobbles

When towing my boat the back end of the car sways around and feels very dangerous. Originally I thought it was the boat pushing me along when braking thus upsetting the dynamics of the car. I tested the ball weight and it was 160kg which is within spec. I recently put 6 bags of pool salt (about 150kg) in the boot and the back end still sways, so it's not the boat causing the problem. I have also changed the shocks allround to Ironman foam cell after blowing out some Konis on the Gunbarrel but the problem existed before that so I don't think it's the shocks. I also use variable rate King springs with 2" lift. What could the problem be?

Hard to tell but I would start looking at:

Watts link bushes & Lower arm bushes on the rear diff.

Hi I had simular dramas when towing an older caravan, no matter what I did the van had a bad effect on the Disco. Much to my surprise this all went away when I replaced the tyres.

I had road tyres on the 18 inch rims when I first bought her and later replaced them with General Grabber At2 Since then towing much improved.

I think the road tyres had too much flex in the side walls and possibly the low tread and old age of the tyres played a part too??

This will proberly start another discussion I now have a bigger van and use a Hayman Reese WDH with the standard LR tow bar Every thing works even better. 1000's of klms so far and no ill effects.

Got a worn bush on one of my rear arms. When I decellerate downhill, I get a bit of wobble in the back too.
