    Alpine window install

I have some paint bubbles on the bottom of the Alpine window. I intend to cut out the window and fix up any rust forming before it get too bad.
Question, any one refitted an alpine window successfully and what type of adhesive did you use? or is it better to get a windscreen bloke to refit?

Hello I did this when I got my Hail damaged D2 V8.
Its not easy to remove the glass U need a sharp flexible thin bladed knife.
I scraped all the old rubberised gunk away and then cleaned it with isopropoalcohol and then used black sikaflex with a thick bead then pushed down the glass and wiped away, dont push too hard or it will go well below the roofline. I then used tape to hold it all in place till it dryed .Looks good and no leaks. wasnt that hard to do
    go for it

How is the glass held in? Mine leaks and I need to do a repair on it. I assumed it was a rubber seal but it sounds like a silicon job???

The D2 alpine and side windows are glued in, they changed from the rubber window seals when D1 ended

There is still a rubber finisher/seal on the D2.

The glass is bonded in though!

Where's the seal? Mine is certainly sikaflex right to the edge on both sides. It rubs off black when washing. Don't scrape all the adhesive off, leave a small amount as the sika will adhere better to itself plus you're not opening up another potential area of bare metal for rust. Same as the windscreens get done.

Rave CD mentions an adhesive and tells you how thick to apply it, no seal mentioned.

There's rubber finishers on the windscreen but not the alpine windows.

Perhaps there is some variation between the models????

I've just had a look and my alpine and side/rear windows have a rubber seal which sits inbetween the window and the bodywork. Mine is a MY00.5

Mines a 2000, and the window sits on the bed of sikaflex and it than has the sealant right up flush with the surface of the glass and body in a neat bead.
