roller door rooter
Hi all, I'm pretty keen on getting some taller wheels so I've been looking through this site and I reckon 265/75/r16 with a 2" lift sounds like the go for me. This ought to raise the car three inches as measured from the roof racks, important for getting under the roller door.
Problem is; according to the hieght placard on the drivers visor a standard disco should be 1980mm high, mine has sagged down to 1935mm. does this then mean that i have to account for the +2"springs firstly lifting the disco up to standard hieght then another 2 inces on top of that. If that is so then it means that my new hieght is gunna be 45mm more than the 3" I originally thought.
Hoping to hear from anyone with this tyre and susp' combo that could do a total hieght measurement for me to confirm my suspicions.
Thanks in advance
Probly should mention it is in bog stock form at the mo, no bullbar, rock sliders, etc...

Have a read of the dementions on this thread from when I fitted OME springs.
You may get some idea of the lift it gave me and then work it back to your rig.

Edit..
Here is what I found on search for standard hights(from a post by Slunnie ...
"For any one interested heres the rough measurments...
Started using this post from Slunnie as my base point.
"The normal measuring method is from the middle of the hub to the underside of the wheelarch - ie hub to guard measurement.
Hub to guard specs are:
Front 485 - 515mm, with almost all delivered at 485mm
Rear coilers 468 - 498mm with almost all delivered at about 470mm.

thanks for the measurements, what an awesome rig!
My front wheels are 490 (center to guard) and rear is 480, looks like they are close to standard hieght and have not sagged at all. I'll have to measure again , or maybe the hieght on the placard relates to the max permissable hieght and not the hieght they are usually delivered at.
I noticed you were running the 265/75's without a lift and you said you had trouble with it hitting the bump stops (due to stuffed springs), just wondering if you also had probs with it on full lock, full articulation.
I'm asking because I'd rather keep the susp' hieght standard and hopefully avoid the double cardan probs I have read about, but I also read that 265/75's need the lift to avoid fouling the susp' components.

When I had the 265/75 Cooopers on I had no issue with any touching of componants when flexing.
I had 5mm clearance at lock from the control arm.
Now I have KM2's on they just touch at full lock due to the extra side wall tread.
I just turn back 1/2 turn from lock, very rare to be that tight anyway.
The only modds for fitting these size tyres that I know of are...
-a bull bar as they touch the trailing edge of the factory bumper when turning.
-spacing the crossmember to give room for the front tailshaft when flexing/drooping the front axle.
-Some people find they need to adjust the steering stopers to give less full lock turnng(I havn't).
I should add...
My hights where done with my normal load in the rear too.
A little weight in tool, recovery gear,stove,20ltrs water and the fridge.
