    A.C.E / S.L.S Questions

I have a 99 V8 D2 with ACE / SLS and I am planning on fitting a ARB or similar bullbar in the future. If I fit it before adding HD front springs & shocks, with the weight of the bull bar result in the front suspension riding a bit lower under the added weight?

Will the SLS system lower the back to level out the whole vehicle? Or will the front just be in the nose dive position?

I would not fit a bull bar without changing the springs. My first D2 had a bullbar & winch fitted and the nose dropped sharply. Kept bottoming out on mild speed humps etc. Now, without a winch it won't be quite as bad but expect the nose to drop about 10mm +.

Can't help you with the rear SLS - sorry.

Yes the nose will go down a bit, depends on how much the springs have already sagged, as to the ride.
The SLS will hold the back at the same height as it is now.

    Cheers

    Hello Troppo

Get the bull bar(and winch?) fitted first, before the lift is done. The lift will be done (spring tensions calculated) based upon what is on the front end at the time. If you get the springs done based upon what the car is intended to be like and end up not getting the bull bar, then the cars suspension will be riding like a truck forever or until you get the additional weight over the front axle(best intentions can always go astray).

My 2"(50mm) lift ended up being a 115mm lift on the front end(bar and winch in place before the lift) when I had mine done.

The SLS adjusts to sensors on the rear suspension arms (they're not connected to the front suspension). Climb under your car, you will see them. They will put spacers on the existing airbag mount points and put spacers on the sensors to make the suspension lift and work in the appropriate manner.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Measure your bump stop clearances now and then after the bullbar so you have a reference from std heights of the current amount of sag and where it ends up and so when you order your springs there's a point to work from.

FWIW I have Lovells HD+50mm in mine with no rear bar and a custom tube bar and winch cradle that's no where as heavy as a full bar and it still sits higher than the +50 and rides very well. I'm actually glad the wrong (not std duty) springs were ordered now.

The ACE will just move to allow for the lift, the long side of the bar (non hydraulic ram side) just pivots in the bushes and the short side will just move down.

Thanks for the extra info, I am looking at getting Lovells HD front coils and Bilsteins all round plus Britpart spacers for the airbags. Bull bar will either be ARB winch bar or MCC4x4 winch steel bull bar, the winch will be added later when funds allow. I will be fitting the bull bar so I'll add the winch later myself. It just means doing it twice
