    Clean the Radiator

I just reminded myself of another item that should be attended before a big trip. Make sure the radiator isn't full of spinifex etc

On a recent trip to the Pilbara I was plagued by overheating. Had to turn the AC off much of the time.

When I got back I took all the radiators out and cleaned them. I replaced the AC condenser as the fins were all crushed. The whole assembly was caked in a blend of spinifex seeds and red dirt, something akin to an adobe hut.

Needless to say, the overheating issue has been resolved, and the AC makes lots of cold air.

    Pippin.
The best way to check properly is to drop the fuel tank. Disconnect all four fuel lines from the pump. Ensure that it has minimum fuel volume obviously. Just be careful to manouver the filler neck out around the chassis rail. Presto, perfect, easy access. Good time to inspect tank also.
On my car, the green banded line was the culprit, I thoroughly inspected the other three lines and found minimal scuffing evident. With the green banded line, I taped up all the bends with electrical tape and encased it in rubber hose (slitted). I gave the other lines similar treatment. That was in 2009, no problems since. The only way to do it PROPERLY is to drop the tank. All you need is a basic socket/spanner kit, a couple of blocks of wood, a trolley jack....it is easy to do. You can give everything under there a good clean up, touch up and apply some rust preventative lanolin to previously unaccessable areas. If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask mate.
    Regards
