    90 or 95L tank

I just filled up and put 92L in the disco. Um is that naughty? The car did conk out as I pulled into the servo but the fuel light was only on for 50km or so.

    Any thoughts?

I was told that it is not good to ever let the tank get too low as this is what causes fuel pumps to (eventually) fail as they get too hot.

The most I ever put in after running out .... 95.82L ... filled to the brim incl' bouncing the car around to squeeze in as much as I could. Supposed to have a 95L tank, but I would have expected a few litres more for expansion room. Td5.

The fuel running through it keeps it cool---

It did but I was thinking that it had 10L in it when the light went on as that's what most of my cars have done. Guess it was a 50km sign in this case.

    10l left

I thought most cars should have about 50 km (in the LRD case about 10 litres left) when the light comes on - however, typically you can't get it all out via the pump and keep the engine running (air starts to get sucked in - especially on fuel injected cars not a good thing), an "empty" tank might have 3 to 5 litres still in it. The light on my RR used to come on and then about 10 to 20km til it stopped....love pommy electrics....

I once filled up with 102L I doesn't make sense as it was still running... Rolled up to Dubbo from Melbourne (via the dish) on one tank never been able to do it again though... This was when the d2 was new...
